SEMA Services
Since 1968, the Storage Equipment Manufacturers' Association has built a reputation as the leading voice on safe storage solutions. Today, our members, committees, and training initiatives combine expertise to deliver trusted warehouse racking services. SEMA's mission is to promote the safe design, installation, and use of storage systems manufactured and supplied by our members.
The work of our Technical Committee is well renowned, providing definitive technical guidance, SEMA Code of Practice, and other publications. Leadership continues at National and European levels through membership of the British Materials Handling Federation (BMHF) and European Materials Handling Federation (FEM). SEMA is the UK National Committee Member of one of FEM's seven product groups; Racking and Shelving.
A well-designed adjustable pallet racking system built and installed to SEMA guidelines and Codes of Practice, used safely by the workforce and maintained correctly, can deliver a robust return on investment over many years.
SEMA Members and Training
Our Members are the backbone of SEMA. They comprise SEMA Approved Manufacturer - Full Members, SEMA Associate Members, SEMA Approved Members, and SEMA Approved Members – Advanced. The groups combine their knowledge to provide the industry with expert warehouse racking services that uphold the highest SEMA standards. They are in the ideal position to advise business owners and site managers on maximising warehouse efficiency, racking layout, storage solutions, safety risks and other essential requirements.
We know that training is central to best practice, and we're a leading training body for the UK storage industry. Our Rack Safety Awareness course will provide your employees with the knowledge they need to identify damage to your racking. We can also prepare a member of your team in their role when conducting weekly inspections, as required by HSE.
Safety at the point of adjustable pallet racking installation is essential for upholding the safety of the equipment. We have led the industry by setting up the SEMA Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme (SEIRS). This instructs racking installers on safe and correct warehouse racking installation methods.
We promote a rigorous approach to warehouse pallet racking inspection, maintenance, and repair through a routine of daily, weekly, and annual inspections. SEMA Approved Rack Inspectors (SARI) complete the quality circle as highly qualified professionals conducting warehouse racking inspections at end-user sites.
