SEIRS CSCS

SEIRS CSCS

To meet their responsibility, warehouse owners must check the quality and safety standards of racking installers when working on site. One well-known way to achieve this goal is by asking to see a racking installers CSCS card.

What is the CSCS Card? Do I Need to Get One?

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme, also known as CSCS, is the leading training and qualification verification scheme for the industry.

Launched in 1995, CSCS works to ensure that UK construction workers receive appropriate training and qualifications suitable for their role. By doing so it will help to improve standards and safety within UK construction.

Holding a CSCS card is not a legal requirement, and it is up to the main/principal contractor or client to decide if their site workers need one. However, CSCS cards offers a quick and easy way for managers to check the qualifications of the contractors on site. As a result, most main and principal contractors do require workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.

SEIRS CSCS

After recommendations made by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) in 2015, CSCS restructured its card system, moving towards a more unified approach. This resulted in the removal of certain card types and the introduction of specialist cards tailored to specific construction skills. This led to the creation of the CSCS Alliance, which now brings together 37 card schemes spanning a wide range of construction sectors.

Through our SEIRS initiatives, we were one of the first companies to become involved in the CSCS Alliance. For racking, the only way to get the correct CSCS card is through our SEIRS training scheme.

How Can I Get a CSCS Card?

To get a SEIRS CSCS card you will need to specifically apply for the relevant SEIRS training course. You will also need to pass the appropriate CITB Health, Safety and Environment test before attending the course.

How Can I Verify Cards?

To quickly and securely ensure everyone has the right card and qualifications for their job, the 37 CSCS Alliance schemes have developed CSCS Smart Check. Available via API, app and website, this allows over 2.3 million cards displaying the CSCS logo to be verified.
