SEMA Approved Racking Inspector Course - Part 2

SARI Course Part 2

The SEMA Approved Rack Inspector (SARI) Course Part 2 builds on the knowledge gained in Part 1, focusing on the practical application of inspection principles and the development of professional reporting and client communication skills. Delegates will engage in a series of applied learning exercises designed to reinforce both technical and procedural understanding.

Homework

Delegates begin by completing a critique of a defective report, encouraging critical analysis of inspection standards and report accuracy.

Risk Assessment

A refresher on risk assessment (RA) principles ensures all delegates are confident in carrying out effective RAs. The section reviews key steps in the RA process and demonstrates how these techniques apply not only to personal safety but also to the assessment of damage scenarios not directly covered by standard SEMA recommendations.

Recap of the Rack Safety Awareness Course

As completion of the Rack Safety Awareness (RSA) course is a prerequisite, this section revisits its core principles, focusing on the hierarchical inspection regime and the vital role of the warehouse operator in maintaining ongoing rack safety.

Working Environment

Delegates explore how environmental factors within the warehouse, such as floor condition, lighting, pallet quality and forklift truck operation, influence rack safety and inspection outcomes.

Rack Inspection

This module covers the essential equipment required for racking inspections and outlines a structured methodology for recording rack damage. Delegates review SEMA’s recommendations for various racking components before taking part in a practical inspection exercise, followed by a report-writing and critique session to consolidate learning.

Client Liaison

Effective communication is essential to professional rack inspection. This section details each stage of client interaction, from initial enquiry and on-site activities through to debriefing and final reporting. Delegates study the structure and key elements of a SARI report and review a sample report for best practice.

Miscellaneous

The course concludes with a review of relevant SEMA policies and selected topics from SEMA Technical Bulletins, ensuring delegates remain up to date with current industry guidance.
